PCB assembly cost is driven by a combination of design, sourcing and production factors. Understanding them early keeps a project focused on the decisions that actually matter — instead of discovering constraints late, when every change is more expensive.

1. Design and manufacturability

Board size, layer count, component density and assembly complexity all influence the manufacturing effort. A DFM review before production clarifies whether the design can be assembled efficiently with the intended process, and surfaces questions while they are still cheap to answer.

2. Bill of materials and sourcing

The BOM is one of the most influential documents in the project.
