Supplier qualification

How to Evaluate a PCB Assembly Supplier

A structured qualification framework for OEM procurement teams — engineering capability, manufacturing capability and communication process.

Using this framework

Three areas decide most supplier outcomes.

Procurement teams evaluating a PCB assembly supplier generally need to answer the same three questions: can they engage with the engineering problem, can they manufacture the confirmed scope, and is the communication process predictable. This page sets out how NAVOMAX addresses each area, so the framework can be applied to any supplier — including this one.

Manufacturing partner profile

Manufacturing Partner Profile

NAVOMAX works as a global sourcing partner for PCB assembly programs. Engineering questions, manufacturing coordination and project execution are handled through a single customer-facing path, with production delivered by qualified manufacturing partners for the confirmed scope.

Profile

What NAVOMAX coordinates for a sourcing program.

Global Sourcing Partner

NAVOMAX is the customer-facing party for the program. Requirements, quotations, engineering questions and shipment coordination are handled through NAVOMAX, so a buyer deals with one accountable channel instead of coordinating several suppliers directly.

Manufacturing Coordination

Production is placed with qualified manufacturing partners selected for the confirmed scope. NAVOMAX coordinates the build, tracks progress against the agreed plan and resolves open questions between engineering review and shipment release.

Engineering Support

DFM feedback, BOM considerations and assembly requirements are reviewed against the supplied design. Engineering questions are raised before production decisions are made, so manufacturability issues are settled during review rather than on the line.

Project Execution Capability

Each program follows a defined path: requirements and acceptance criteria confirmed, production planned, build monitored against the agreed parameters, and final verification completed before shipment release for the confirmed scope.

Area 1

Engineering Capability

BOM Review

The supplier reviews the bill of materials for completeness, reference designator consistency and line-item structure before quoting, rather than pricing a partial document.

DFM Support

Manufacturability considerations are raised as engineering feedback before production, so design questions are resolved while changes are still inexpensive.

Prototype Support

The same engineering interface carries the project from prototype validation into production, so knowledge is not lost between stages.

Area 2

Manufacturing Capability

SMT Assembly

Surface-mount assembly for the confirmed project scope, with process parameters monitored during production.

Through-Hole Assembly

Through-hole and mixed-technology assembly where the design or application requires it.

Testing

Testing performed against the customer-provided test requirements, fixtures and acceptance criteria where those are available.

Packaging

Packaging and shipment preparation against the agreed project requirements, including documentation review before release.

Area 3

Communication Process

A qualification decision depends on whether the process is predictable. The sequence below is the path a NAVOMAX project follows from first contact to delivery.

  1. 01RFQ
  2. 02Engineering Review
  3. 03Quotation
  4. 04Sample
  5. 05Production
  6. 06Delivery

Qualification checklist

Questions worth asking any supplier.

Does the supplier engage before quoting?

A supplier that only returns a price without engineering questions may be pricing a document they have not reviewed.

Is one interface accountable across stages?

Continuity between prototype, sample and production reduces the risk of decisions being re-made without context.

Is the acceptance criteria written down?

Inspection and test scope should be agreed explicitly rather than assumed from a service description.

Can the supplier state its own evidence limits?

A supplier that will not distinguish verified claims from marketing statements is harder to qualify.

Evidence boundary

What we do not claim here.

This page does not state certification scopes, facility measurements, production capacity, customer counts or years of experience. Those statements are published only when a verifiable record exists for the applicable legal entity, and are attributed to that entity rather than to NAVOMAX generically.

Share the project requirements you are evaluating. NAVOMAX will respond through the same engineering review process described above.
